Hello! I'm Adam, a Digital Designer based in Manchester

I'm a Manchester born designer specialising in digital design. I graduated from the University of Salford in 2014 with 1st Class Honours in Graphic Design. Since graduating I have worked in MediaCityUK, for a full service advertising agency and a healthcare technology company. Working on a range of briefs including Responsive Web Design, App Design & Integrated Advertising campaigns for clients including Dr Now, Saudi Airlines, Bloomberg, Blue Planet Aquarium, National Autistic Society, Garmin & Others.

Outside of design, I'm a season ticket holder at Manchester United going to all home games and as many away games as I can. I have an extensive vinyl record collection, and play competitive 7-a-side football every Thursday with friends from school.

I'm based in Manchester and currently looking for more opportunities to learn and develop my skills within the design industry. My portfolio is available on request, if you're up for working together on a project please get in touch. Email: adam_gorton@live.com or Call: +44 (0) 7851 639010

After finishing my Internship I was offered a permanent role. It was during this time that both the Head of Design and Studio Manager left the company. After which I was given the opportunity to take the lead on a number of design projects including client websites, apps, advertising campaigns & digital marketing campaigns. Working closely with clients and other members of the digital team to create design solutions for them that aligned with their ideas & business strategies.

Transmission Creative –  Placement
June 2014

Short two week placement working on multiple different briefs, including the first seasonal events booklet for Manchester Cathedral.

University of Salford – BA (HONS) Graphic Design
September 2011 – July 2014

Specialising in Communication Design. The course included Branding, Illustration, Typography, Web Design & Web Development. During my time there I took on a range of different briefs, including competition briefs such as  D&AD, Roses, YCN, live briefs for clients & self lead projects.

My Final Major Project focused on Typography in Football, creating a number of my own typefaces that both accepted and challenged the notion of legibility in a past paced sport. I then created and branded my own type foundry 'Zero–99' and designed a responsive website to distribute them.

Technical Skills

I have great knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, XD, Photoshop & Indesign. Plenty of experience using prototyping tools such as Invision, Webflow & Proto. Good understanding of HTML & CSS through working closely with developers and SEO experts. I also have a fair understanding of the typeface development app Glyphs.

Communication / Time Management

Throughout my short career I've learned how to communicate effectively with a range of people including; clients, stakeholders, designers, developers & account managers. I've taken the lead design role on a number of projects including apps, websites & marketing campaigns, which involved leading a small team of designers & developers, trying to keep the projects on time and budget, and making sure the quality of work is the best it can be.
